The Office of Mathematics Improvement (OMI) 

OMI was created to improve mathematics proficiency of students in Alabama public schools in grades K-5. 

OMI coordinates across initiatives in the Alabama State Department of Education to enact the Alabama Numeracy Act of 2022.

The Office of Mathematics Improvement is a proactive catalyst for change in K-5 mathematics instruction.​

In order to impact learning and foster a growth mindset,

we will support and monitor effective implementation of curricula, assessments, and evidence-based practices, including but not limited to:​

Coaching,​

Professional development, ​

Data-informed decision making, and ​

Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).​

As an accountability partner, we will collaborate with stakeholders to improve mathematics proficiency.
